Summery weekend's can often spark adventurous desires. A need to feel the salty, invigorating sea air on your face and watch contentedly while your little ones potter in the sand. Living in Manchester, you might not automatically bring to mind a reality for this fantasy. Especially if you want to find a quiet stretch of coast that combines a bearable car journey with charm AND kid-friendly distractions. So our ears pricked in excitement when Our Kid co-founder let us into her secret 1-hour retreat from Manchester; Talacre beach on the North Welsh coast. Here she gives us her insiders lowdown on this quaint little outpost...
"Talacre is a tiny seaside resort in Flintshire, North Wales and can be reached in just over an hour from Manchester. It has a beautiful, safe beach which sits on the Welsh Coastal Path.
We love that you can park right by the beach and meander to the sea past independent local shops including a bakery and Welsh ice-cream and sweet shop. It's the perfect opportunity to stock up on treats to see you through the day.
Talacre will remind you of charming seaside resorts from your youth and doesn't cost the earth. The kids rides are 30p and the 2p machines can keep toddlers entertained while you eat sugary hot doughnuts. Yum
We can't resist spending a pound or two in Kal's Cash&Carry which stocks tons of kids treasures at bargain prices.
Talacre is a true gem and probably not much has changed since we came here as kids. If you only make one daytrip away from the urban sprawl this summer, make it to Talacre".
It's always great to hear personal recommendations of great places to visit with kids. We'll post more of ours on the blog and if you fancy making any of your own please feel free to comment on our Facebook page. We'll reward your efforts with top treats if they make it onto the blog.
